Why Mineral Based Cosmetics are so Vital

A mineral is an inorganic solid substance that occurs naturally in rocks and in the ground. When used in cosmetics, these micronized crystals reflect light to help smooth the appearance of fine lines and blemishes. Minerals provide rich color with natural pigments from the earth — unlike traditional makeup formulas, which contain harmful petroleum dyes and other chemical-based additives.

Minerals also naturally provide sun protection, keeping skin healthy and youthful. Minerals do not support the growth of bacteria or microbes, and pose a lower risk of allergic reaction. In fact, minerals are great for use on skin recovering from harsh medical procedures, and on problem skin conditions like rosacea, acne and discoloration.

GlamOn Hollywood is pleased to carry Youngblood – the premier luxury mineral cosmetics line made of natural, finely ground minerals from the earth — without any of the common irritants (including chemicals, dyes and preservatives) found in conventional makeup. Created by former medical aesthetician, Pauline Youngblood, many of the products contain a signature mineral blend of Malachite, Rhodolite, Hematite and Zincite to help protect cells and tissue.

From the first moment you brush on the loose Natural Mineral Foundation, you’ll notice an incredibly silky feel and polished, fresh-faced finish. The lightweight foundations contain a natural sun protectant, and look virtually undetectable, while providing flawless, buildable coverage. Youngblood never appears glittery; instead, skin radiates a natural, healthy glow!

Youngblood is gentle to all skin types and conditions, including skin recovering from laser or chemical peels, or experiencing rosacea, acne or discoloration. It is the clear standard used at many upscale med-spas and skin care clinics around the world, and is carried at the finest boutiques including Henri Bendel in New York and NewBeauty at Fred Segal in Santa Monica, CA.

The products are free of talc, parabens, oil and fragrance, and have earned numerous awards including “Best Foundation” (Beauty Launchpad) and “Best Mineral Blush” (NewBeauty). It is the number one choice of professional makeup artists, celebrities and customers alike who value a comprehensive assortment of natural-looking shades that are easy to use, long-lasting and able to stand up to heat, humidity and perspiration.

Weirdest Nail Trick Ever…

Have you ever heard of the nail matrix? Start making your mental Keanu jokes now, but it’s the key to strong, healthy nails—and most of you are ignoring it.

Take a look at your hands. See the area between your cuticle and the first knuckle on your finger? That’s actually where your nail starts growing (and it’s also known as the nail matrix).

Nail experts have known about the importance of a good Cuticle Oil for the natural nail.  Used daily, the natural nail will resist breaking, peeling and will be healthier.  As we age, we loose the  natural oils in our nails.  Replace it daily with the tip suggested here!  You’ll be amazed!

But here’s the thing: If you just moisturize your nail and the visible cuticle surrounding it, without taking your cuticle oil or cream all the way to the second knuckle, you’re ignoring the most important part. “I always tell my patients that area needs to be well moisturized, because that’s where the healthy nail growth starts,” says dermatologist Ellen Marmur. “If it’s bitten, dry, or cracked, all energy goes to repairing the skin barrier and steals energy from matrix development. The immature nail is like a cement floor that didn’t get a chance to dry thoroughly and is easily destroyed. And once it’s grown out in that state, most of the damage is done.”

Nice! Here’s to healthy nails!

New York Fashion Week Dazzles and Delights!

The flowers on the floor spelt out two letters in pink peonies: “TH” – for Tommy Hilfiger. But they also meant so much more: flower children, the Summer of Love, The Beatles in their yellow submarine, and the enthusiasm to recreate that freewheeling hippie era at festivals around the world.

Even the show invitation was printed at the center of a vinyl record. “Celebrating the music festivals of the ’60s and ’70s – my time!’ said Tommy backstage, after one of the most vibrant shows he has done in a while.

From the big, boyfriend sweater patterned with stars and skulls, to the boots splattered with even more stars, there was something magical about the collection, with a live band and fresh flowers adding to the festival-inspired set.

Carolina Herrera showed a collection made new with digital prints and foam embellishments.

And designer Dennis Basso remembered his friend Joan Rivers, whose funeral he’d attended Sunday; the comedian and host of E! network’s “Fashion Police.”

He kicked off his show with a recorded message: “I would like to dedicate this collection to Joan Rivers who has brought laughter and happiness to all of us,” which was followed by a minute of silence.

A day before, Versus Versace brought a technological twist to a runway show – allowing people to immediately buy runway looks.

Edun, the brand founded by Bono and wife Ali Hewson, unveiled a Nigeria-inspired show.

Kendall Jenner, who first walked the runway at New York Fashion Week last spring, reappeared as a model for Diane Von Furstenberg.

Remember: GlamOn will be at the San Diego Fashion Week coming up soon!

GlamOn Hollywood Launches World’s Sleekest Automated Beauty & Grooming Store in Harrah’s

GlamOn, Inc., announced today that they have placed an ABS (Automated Beauty Store) inside Harrah’s Southern California Resort.

Company Founder and CEO, Megyn Bell, said Harrah’s Southern California Resort is the perfect place for their upscale system.

“While we sell cosmetics, fragrances, skin care, hair care and gifts for both men and women, the majority of our customers are female,” she stated. “Often while at a hotel or resort for business or pleasure, women find they have forgotten their favorite beauty product, and purchase a lesser quality brand at a local store or hotel gift shop. Now, with our Automated Beauty Stores, women (and men) can get premier brands at a competitive price, quickly and conveniently.”

The Automated Beauty Store, which can be accessed 24-hours a day, offers a delightful assortment of cruelty-free, all-natural and mineral-based products, and exclusive items such as the GlamOn Brush Set and Lip Pallet, plus specialty products, including:

  • Tutti Fruti Cupcake Body Scrub
  • Youngblood Makeup – including eye shadows, powders and mascara
  • VitaMan Travel Essentials
  • M Steves Ultra Nourishing Boost and Clarifying Cleanser
  • The Salon Elite Tangle Teezer Hair Brush – featuring a revolutionary design that won the Queen’s Award for Innovation

GlamOn® Hollywood is currently evaluating applications for additional placements in North America.

“We have tremendous interest from progressive hotels, shopping malls, businesses, and other locations from around the world, asking for our Automated Beauty Store,” Bell commented. “However, we are very selective in where we place our systems, to assure our brand remains strong, our pedigree high, and that we are reaching the right target audience.”
